According to Human Rights Watch, Saudi officials committed to take steps to end the male guardianship rule, to ban gender discrimination, and to give women full legal identity. Today, Saudi Arabian women must have male guardians in order to move in public, travel abroad, access many public services, and get married. They also are not permitted to drive.
