A Norwegian Muslim woman was not permitted to swim in the Carlos Hotel’s pool in Marsa Matrouh, Egpyt, because she wore a veil. According to the hotel’s administration, the Ministry of Tourism dictates that only women wearing Western bathing suits are allowed in the pool area.
