This year, 19 drunk women were sexually assaulted in Wellington, home to 300 bars within a two-kilometer radius of the city’s center. Though sexual assaults have decreased in Wellington, attacks on intoxicated young women has increased. In most of the cases, the women were responsible for their alcohol intake.

The Society for Defending Women’s Rights blames Saudi Arabia’s religious police for the “honor killing” of two sisters. Daily occurrences in Saudi Arabia, the “honor killings” are staged to look like suicides or accidents. The Saudi religious police also enforce the Islamic dress code, prayer attendance, and the prohibition of alcohol.

Though the Tourism Corporation of the Gujarat Limited alleges that Gujarat, India is safe for foreign travel, the Indian government warns foreign women to dress modestly and wear minimal jewelry. It also cautions foreigners against purchasing alcohol.
